Android Virus

Several days ago, the Italian surveillance firm Hacking Team was hacked, with 415GB of their files leaked over the internet. The exposure of its software and source code has had a dramatic impact on internet security. The Cheetah Mobile team conducted a special analysis on its Android monitoring software RCS (Remote Control System), and carried through targeted scanning and killing of the possible viruses which were created on the basis of the RCS system source code. So far the Cheetah Mobile team has intercepted dozens of variants of such viruses which are well disguised and very dangerous. These viruses are a grave threat to user's privacy and data security. Once the viruses are installed, they monitor Cellphone Broadcasts (SMS broadcasts, phone-charging broadcasting, screen unlock broadcasting, etc.), and obtain users’ private information, including messages and phone records. In addition, the virus will keep running even when the phone’s screen is off. It will check the phone's root state, infected status, phone status information, and collect all the basic information about the phone, access to a remote server, send text messages etc. All in all, it will monitor your phone right under your nose. The virus is a high-risk spyware and is a serious threat to users' privacy, particularly as it uses a relatively new encryption technology to avoid antivirus software. This suggests that hackers are making use of the technique disclosed on the internet and have upgraded their malware to more dangerous forms. As can be seen, the Hacking Team affair brings an opportunity for ordinary hackers to take advantage of the exposed tools and techniques to attack users, which means we are all exposed to a more dangerous situation now. We recommend that users install CM Security/Clean Master to protect their privacy and interests. The CM Security Research Lab would also like to remind all users to take care of their phones by scanning and cleaning them regularly.
